As a part of The Prairie InSight Series, a collaboration between Prairie Lights and The University of Iowa’s International Programs, Philemon Matibe will read from Madhinga Bucket Boy. In one of the most powerful memoirs to come out of modern Africa, Matibe recounts his childhood experience in white-supremacist Rhodesia as well as his adult struggles in Mugabe’s Zimbabwe. Now in exile in the United States, Matibe continues to pursue his desire to remove the dictator from power. The discussion will be moderated by Sharon Benzoni, Executive Director of The Iowa City Foreign Relations Council.
