Michael Van Winkle’s paintings and drawings engage a continuum of visual language to explore the meaning of familiar images, their relationship to abstraction and our collective imagination.

Michael received his BFA from Alfred University in 2003 and his MFA from the University at Albany in 2008. His work has been exhibited in galleries including, Vox Populi, in Philadelphia, PA, Collarworks, in Troy, NY and Underdonk, in Brooklyn, NY. In the summer of 2018, Michael took part in the inaugural year of the Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency. Michael teaches at Siena College and the Doane Stuart School.

He currently lives and maintains his daily studio practice in Mechanicville New York.
