Poet Edward Hirsch will read from The Living Fire, New and Selected Poems. Edward Hirsch is the author of seven previous collections of poetry and four books of prose, including How To Read a Poem and Fall in Love with Poetry which was a national best seller. He has received numerous awards for his poetry including a National Book Critics Circle Award and a MacArthur Fellowship. A longtime teacher in the Creative Writing Program at The University of Houston, Hirsch is now president of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. He lives in New York City. Robert Penn Warren said that Hirsch's best poems are "unsurpassed in our time."
