Nickolas Butler and Kevin Allardice will read from their new fiction.

Iowa Writer’s Workshop graduate Nickolas Butler will read from The Hearts of Men. Set in a Boy Scout summer camp, “Butler’s latest delves into the meaning of loyalty and friendship, how some rise to life’s challenges while others fail... Fans of Butler’s award-winning Shotgun Lovesongs will welcome this impressive work with an outstanding ensemble cast. Top of the class for Butler on this one.” —Library Journal (starred review)

Butler is the author of the novel Shotgun Lovesongs and the short story collection Beneath the Bonfire. He lives in Wisconsin.

Kevin Allardice will read from Family, Genus, Species, his satirical novel centered around the pressures of modern family life, from urban organics to political tracking apps to the inscrutable rules of preschool birthday events. "Kevin Allardice harnesses his great powers of description and ingenious sense of narrative for this viciously funny satire, Family Genus Species. Laurence Sterne would have been proud to call Mr. Allardice a descendent." —Michael Kimball
