The Times Club gallery at Prairie Lights presents: Lee Emma Running with Alissa Nutting: Arrangement of Bones. Please join us for the opening reception, Friday, October 13, 6-8pm, with a brief reading at 7:00pm. 

This exhibition features a collaborative exchange between Running and Nutting, facilitated by 7x7, an online publishing project that facilitates exchanges between writers and visual artists based on the surrealist game "exquisite corpse." You can find out more about 7x7 at

Lee Emma Running makes installations and sculptures inspired by natural phenomena. The materials she works with include animal bones, paper, fabric, fur, raw pigments and gold. Running is an Associate Professor at Grinnell College, and has received Artists Residencies at Jentel, Banner WY, Penland School of Crafts, NC, the Santa Fe Art Institute, and The Vermont Studio Center. Her work has been exhibited at the Des Moines Art Center, The Charlotte Street Foundation, The Robert C. Williams American Museum of Papermaking, and the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art. Running received a BFA from Pratt Institute in 1999, and an MFA from the University of Iowa in 2005. She is an Associate Professor at Grinnell College, and is represented by Olsen Larson Gallery. Alissa Nutting is the author of the novels Made for Love, a recent New York Times editor's choice selection, and Tampa, as well as the story collection Unclean Jobs for Women and Girls, an expanded/revised version of which is being rereleased in Summer 2018 as part of Ecco's "Art of the Story" series. A nonfiction book of her comedic essays is forthcoming from Ecco in 2019. Her writing as appeared in publications such as Tin House, Fence, BOMB, and Elle magazine.
